Romantics of a shelf

Who amongst you here has the knack for books?
And If I may ask, what particular characteristic of books have caught your attention,
that since then you never looked back? Care to type-in our chat box.

We all have our stories with books, whether we read for leisure or for the purpose of studying, books are one thing that is constant. Changing through the flux of time, evolving in structure and literature.
I have begun to read books for the longest that I can remember. From informative books to novels, I have surrounded myself with books. Though I did not appreciate the benefits, not until I read my first novel, Harry Potter and Sorcerer’s Stone way back when I was in grade 3 elementary. Harry potter introduced me to the world of magic, wizards, sorcery, quidditch and fantasy. From then on, the books kept pilling on. Unfortunately, I did not have the resources to purchase my own books, I would keep waiting for my mom to buy me one, or I’d borrow from classmates and acquaintances. And I had to mostly resort in reading through pdf copies via the internet. It was not until 2018, that I began to have my own money, that I started purchase my own books. After each week, I would race myself to the bookstores and look over to the shelves, looking for the books I am following, collecting, more books each day. Eventually bookstores would not be able to have the books I coveted, I resorted to the next best thing, the internet, it allowed me to purchase books around the country and overseas, spending thousands, that I would opt for books rather than clothes. It was my addiction. I was hooked more than ever and I couldn’t stop.

Going back to the question “what characteristic of books have caught your attention?” to me it is the smell of new books.
Others my age, would opt for the neuro-inducing drugs, or the injection of alcohol in their veins. I was the odd one from the pack, as my senses are captivated by the smell of books, flying through the pages in few days’ time. With over a hundred books read, running my fingers to those books’ shelves, creates such an alluring sensation in the mind, captivated, and transported into worlds beyond imagination. This is my multiverse and time-capsule, travelling to various frontiers in time, and wonders nothing can compare, the romantics of the shelf.

We judge books by how artistic a cover is done, sorry to spoil you, not all books have such an artistic cover. When we see a book, and see that it is thick, we immediately have this feeling of dread that its going to take time and it’s not doable to read such book. The saying is actually true, never judge a book by it’s cover.  For sometimes the book with the least artistry, contains the most in-depth of stories and lessons. Books are far in graved into our lives, that our lives itself are actually our own story books, filled with various chapters that we fill every single day, writing our tales through our adventures and undertakings of each single day.

कार्मेल #3 (a new series for 2025)

"May-be a Red String" by Bugs Bunny Falling was never the  intention , yes, there was  attraction , but never an admission , then a reverberation , ignited by a constant simulation , in this rocky cognition , brought about by a noisy sensation , that left a scary intuition . a question, what if this is just an imagination that has no possibility for fruition but mere humanity pushes for a direction that asks for an action regardless of expectation , all wanting a possibility of a connection because all this suppression is beginning to become a full blown im plosion of what was just a little suppression held by a weak gravitation . Then came the confession, unsure of the this declaration, a liking that was a hidden expression, of a quietly kept emotion, but telling you is a decision, made by a deep appreciation, for your subtle mystification, that this mortal find a difficulty in comprehension, allured, encapsulated, by this crimson elation, you may call it a contusion, but su...

She said: "Stop, you'll just exhaust yourself" He replied: "If waiting leads to you, then the wait will be worth it" She said: "You'll just get tired" He replied: "And trust me that I'm the one that stays" Quod Bellum Mentem: "Why hold on when all seems lost?" Ipse: "If she is amazing, she won't be easy. If She's easy, She won't be amazing. If She's worth it, you won't give up." Quod Bellem Mentem: "Foolishness human" Ipse: "even when if Gaia gives a million reasons for this not to work, I will look for that one reason to stay" Ipse: This lady has a hold on my heart that I could not explain. The moment I chose her, I chose her until the end. No more bullshit, no more stupidity. Even when we are not talking, she is still the person I wanna be with. She is still the person that makes my heart jittery, that sends chills at the back of my spine. She is the person that every time ...
