Romantics of a shelf

Who amongst you here has the knack for books? And If I may ask, what particular characteristic of books have caught your attention, that since then you never looked back? Care to type-in our chat box. ……………………   We all have our stories with books, whether we read for leisure or for the purpose of studying, books are one thing that is constant. Changing through the flux of time, evolving in structure and literature. I have begun to read books for the longest that I can remember. From informative books to novels, I have surrounded myself with books. Though I did not appreciate the benefits, not until I read my first novel, Harry Potter and Sorcerer’s Stone way back when I was in grade 3 elementary. Harry potter introduced me to the world of magic, wizards, sorcery, quidditch and fantasy. From then on, the books kept pilling on. Unfortunately, I did not have the resources to purchase my own books, I would keep waiting for my mom to buy me one, or I’d borrow from clas...

DECODE, A NEED

What is life? What is its purpose? How should we traverse through life? As you may be reading this right now, you may have asked these questions yourself and have remain unanswered. For over a thousand years, scholars, scientists, philosophers, and psychologists have studied and gave various answers to the question of what life truly is, its purpose, and all that it encompasses I sit upon that question every single day, and the idea has never left my mind. During those moments of silence and solemness when all you can hear is the sound of the night, and feel of your own breathing, the idea seeps in and begin to ponder upon. However, it also begs the question of “is life really worth decoding,” that you have to approach all aspects of life rationally and to always see its angles and all that surrounds life. From how life began, how we go through each single day, and the end of life, Death. Is there a life after death, is death the true and final ending of life? From reading books ...

A SHOT OVER THE HEAD

I went in blind, with no idea in mind of what I am up against. The room felt dark, eerie and forlorn. This time I was afraid. I asked people beforehand but all I got was a nudge of the shoulders, and eye rolls. I had a foot in, and the other outside, for if something comes up, I can immediately run. Fazed, unsure, I didn’t know anyone, names? Faces? I had no idea, all I knew was that people knew me, and they wanted me to do this. Eyes closed, hands and knees tucked, I took a deep plunge into the unknown. A year has passed and I am back, bruised but not dead. Tired but not done. These is all that I have felt over the past year serving as a student leader. Everything around me was murky, and foggy all at the same time. As I had to move my hands and feel around into that unknown. Years beforehand, I kept telling myself that this path wasn’t for me, that the political stage is not my cup of tea, and I would rather stand in the sidelines. Just observing, and seeing ho...

OUR LETTERS AND WORDS

As a specie, Homo Sapien Sapien, we have truly gone over and beyond from what our predecessors were. From scavenging primates to highly digitalized individuals. The process had its ups and downs, taking a thousand years to even stand where we are right now as humans and as a collective society. Through this long and strenuous process, aside from our crafty hands, the other mechanism of our evolution is not an object but an innate ability has that has served as the jet fuel to our progress, the power of communication, our letters and words, joined together to become the bridge of our past and into the future. From the oldest cave paintings, that were found in La Pasiega Cave in Spain that signified our ancestors trying to use letter-like prints on the walls to individuals of the digital text. We have gone further than what we were then. In today’s time, the once written word has now became digitalized, spread to every nation of the world with more than a million people per day hav...

BEYOND PERCEIVABLE

It was not an immediate attraction, for what was on the table was a cat-dog tension A goddess with a crown of glass and armor of titanium Protected by walls you've set to hide the precious heart you've kept Days gone by, the subTle admiration became a strong attraction as magnets to a pole more than beauty that smitten this heart your flawless intelligence and wits caught such attention from that moment on, it became an addiction you've shown me hints of the who under the suit of blades, and indeed you are beyond perceivable you're indeed far more what the eyes can see, the person underneath is whom who stole my heart and thus I say, "you are really something" Te amo mi amor

With the end of one, begins a new one

With the end of one, begins a new one You'd be bullied, hated, back-stabbed, talked about, judged. You'll lose people, and meet new ones. Not everyone is going to like you, and some would just be there for the sweet moments. The process of life, though some endure, many fall. Life does not provide a yellow brick road, rather a mixture of fire pits, breath taking climbs, uncharted seas, deep gorges, and thorn wall. truly an incredible feat, that sometimes makes us question life itself. At the end of it all, when the smoke begins to clear; you'd be wounded, broken and hurt, rugged, exhausted and caloused, but you have endured through it all. Learned from all the punches of life that has been thrown at you. It may seem daunting, looking through that unforgiving horizon; there is one thing that makes a difference. That's when you muster all your courage to take the first step. Our plans may never go as we have planned, though trust the process and have faith in the Almight...

LOVE, AN ADDICTION

Love, and addiction an oxytocin infection unprepared for such Sans warnings Sans labels untaught by anyman Losing mind, Losing sanity, an earworm for the crimson stone With the head wrapped upon you Upon your face, Upon your smile upon your eyes The rush, the high Those feelings excite Nothing compares to Dreams of you Reality incomparible The mind's vast a world Where only you exist A world, a cage I sometimes confuse A dream with no dawn Freedom's Intangible Where do I exist My thoughts Not my own anymore Wake up! Wake up! To find myself In silence... It's quiet now, so empty feelings now hollow The mundane's a new low I crashed and I weep... Withdrawal missing you No, Thoughts of you Feelings of thoughts of you Was it even you? or a state of hysteria Love, my all consuming delusion.
